This weekend is the fifth and final week of our Lenten message series titled, “When God Doesn’t Make Sense.” On the surface, it’s not difficult to come up with our own lists of things that God does or doesn’t do, says or doesn’t say, that don’t make sense to us.
This weekend, we are looking at the fact that God’s timing isn’t always our timing. It feels frustrating that God doesn’t step in and act when we think he ought to do so. In this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus meets his friends Mary and Martha, who are mourning the death of their friend Lazarus. While they think Jesus is too late to do anything, Jesus’ timing works a much greater miracle than they ever expected.
Today, ask God for the patience to accept the events and circumstances of life in God’s time, not yours.
