“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.” Acts 2:1-4
Christianity is not natural — it is supernatural. Christianity challenges the idea that this life is all there is. Christianity is all about God’s kingdom invading earth. It is a mission from God to rescue his children, lost at the fall in the Garden of Eden.
At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit began the movement of the Church by filling and activating the disciples to continue the mission of Jesus. They saw tongues of fire appear, heard a rushing wind, and were able to speak foreign languages.
We have access to the same Spirit who will enable us in mighty ways to do the work of proclaiming and demonstrating the supernatural kingdom of God. Spend some time today asking the Holy Spirit to activate your gifts to boldly carry out the mission of Jesus.
