Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
2 Cor 5:17-20
The Christian writer Sheldon Vanauken once said: “The best argument against Christianity is Christians.” By that he meant that Christians make it hard for others to believe when their way of life does not reflect God’s unconditional love. Friedrich Nietzsche echoed that thought: “I might believe in the Redeemer if his followers looked more redeemed.” In other words, a God who is said to transform should “produce” people with transformed lives. Through Christ, God gave us the ministry of reconciliation and made us his ambassadors. What an enormous gift!
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of reconciliation. Help me to accept and show the transformation you are offering. Help me to be a true ambassador of your unconditional love.
