The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
Lk 2:10-12
The message of the angels is both simple and beautiful: Enjoy the good news of the coming of the Messiah.
The good news is that God is a giver who loves us so much that he gave us his only beloved son (John 3:16). If you unwrap that infant in swaddling clothes lying in a manger, that’s what you find: Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the incarnated God. This is the sign the angels speak of: God makes himself small and becomes a child; he lets us touch him and he asks for our love. No barriers, just unconditional love.
Rejoice!
Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for your presence among us. Thank you for having chosen the manger and not a palace to come to earth. Help me to spread the unconditional love that you have gifted to us.
