Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and what fills it resound; let the plains be joyful and all that is in them.
Then let all the trees of the forest rejoice before the Lord who comes, who comes to govern the earth, to govern the world with justice and the peoples with faithfulness.
Ps 96:11-13
The psalm tells us that even inanimate creation rejoices and offers praise. All of creation is joyful, beautiful and has a meaning, even if it seems purpose-free. The overflowing abundance in God’s creation, the attention to detail, the many ways to interact and connect with each other and the whole of creation spread joy and refer to the creator.
The joy on earth echoes God’s pleasure in his creation and is the true form of worship.
Lord, I want to be a joyful part of your creation, irresistible to others. Help me to worship you through spreading the joy that I experience every day.
