Then the Lord God said, “It’s not good that the human is alone. I will make him a helper that is perfect for him.”
Genesis 2:18
At the beginning of creation, God looks at everything he has made and pronounces it good. Then he sees that the man is all by himself and, for the first time, pronounces that something is not good.
Scripture tells us that people are meant to be together and be in community. It is not good for us to live alone. God hates loneliness and does not want that for anyone. Can you think of anyone who might be feeling lonely this Christmas season? Is there someone for whom your presence might relieve the burden of loneliness? Your presence is perhaps the best you can give, and it is a gift that no one else can give but you.
Father give me the courage to go out of my way to share my presence with people who are lonely.
