And the king will say to them in reply, Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.
Mt 25:40
In this week’s Gospel, Christ, the king, speaks of the seven corporal acts of mercy and says that whatever we have given to the least of our brothers and sisters, we have given to Him. So, if we have given food to the hungry and drink to the thirsty, welcomed the strangers, clothed the naked, visited the sick and imprisoned, and buried the dead, we have done something for Him. And we have opportunities to do this both literally and figuratively. In addition to those who suffer from physical hunger and thirst, there are also people we see every day who hunger and thirst for encouragement, for a smile, for solace, or for wisdom and insight.
Be on the lookout to give what you have to the people around you. Ask God to help you to notice three opportunities to give to people in need.
