Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.

Luke 6:38

Jesus teaches that when we give, we open ourselves up to receive even more. The image Jesus uses here is of someone going to a marketplace to buy grain. They would carry the grain back home in their cloak. The grain they receive is so much that the cloak can no longer contain the grain but instead is overflowing.

When we give to others, God pours blessings into our lives that we cannot contain. Some we will see in this life, others in the next. We cannot out-give God. When we are generous with our time, talent, and treasure, we open up ourselves to receive greater blessings in return.

Pray to have the mindset of Jesus, who made mercy and generosity a priority.
