As a body is one through it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
1Corinthians 12:12-14
Paul describes the Church as the body of Christ. Just as the body has many parts and each part belongs to one another, so do we belong to one another as members of the Church. Each part of the body is needed for the health and well-being of the whole body.
We are not meant to live all on our own. This is why it important to gather on the weekend as a community for Mass and in small groups during the week. These gatherings remind us that we belong to one another. They are crucial to building our faith and relationships in ordinary time so that we have the strength we need during times of trial and tribulation.
Thank God today that you are part of his body.
