For Zion’s sake I will not be silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet until her vindication shines forth like the dawn and her victory like a burning torch.
Isaiah 62:1
The prophet Isaiah describes the Messiah whom God will send. The Messiah will not be silent for the sake of Zion or Jerusalem, but rather will act and work for the vindication of the city. Often when we hear the word vindication, we think of someone who has been unfairly convicted or accused of a crime and is then proven innocent. When we think of vindication, we think of being proven right about something when everyone else thought we were wrong or crazy. But that’s not what Isaiah means here. He means that the Messiah will deliver people when they were in the wrong, when they had failed. His vindication will be so complete that everyone will see it.
Jesus works for your vindication. When you are caught up in sin, he works to put you right with God to change your situation. Jesus vindicates us so that our lives can shine brightly for other people. He can redeem us out of our sin so that we bring light rather than darkness to the world.
Confess your sins to Jesus in prayer today. Then confess a belief that God can use you to bring light to the world despite those failures.
