“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.
Mark 13:32-33

“Be alert!” Jesus cautions. “Be watchful!” But, too often, we let fear control us or let hope give way to despair. We are not being attentive to God when we forget to show our gratitude.

Our despair can deceive us into believing there is nothing worth waiting for. We refuse to see Jesus, who is always coming to us. But we must sit, listen, wait, watch. To show up and be present in the hardships of life is some of the toughest work we will ever do. Today, pray for mindfulness and the strength to be alert to God’s call in your life.
