Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, know that he is near, at the gates.
Mark 13:28-29

In the late spring, fig trees would sprout their leaves and it was a sign that summer was coming. Jesus is telling his followers that, in this same way, they will know when Jesus is present and be able to see what he is doing in the world.

Even though the world is always changing, as Jesus’ followers, we know he is near and always working in our world. We are called to be attentive to this and seek opportunities to join him.

Take some time today to look around your world. Where do you see God’s work at hand? Praise him for his faithfulness and love.
