Then the one who had received two talents came forward and said, ‘Master you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’
Matthew 25:21
The servant who had two talents also used the master’s money for the master’s benefit. When the master praises him we see a third benefit of giving to God. The master says, “Come, and share your master’s joy.”
There is a joy when we give back to God. This is why God wants us to give. He does not want something from us but wants joy for us. There is joy because God is a giver and when we give, we become more like him. There is joy because when we give, we are recognizing that it is not our money or resources. There is joy in knowing that we are not alone, but that God promises to provide for us.
Pray today that in your giving you would come to share more in the joy that comes from giving.
