After a long time, the master of these servant came back and settled accounts with them. The one with five talents came forward, “Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.” His master said to him, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:19-20a
After a looooong time, the master returned to settle his accounts. . It was probably such a long time that the servants might have wondered if the master was ever coming back or might have been tempted to think that the money really belonged to them. The first servant brings 10 talents to the master. The master praises the servant and says, “Well done.”
The first reward of giving in worship is that we earn the appreciation of our heavenly Father. Every time you give to God first and in a sacrificial or meaningful way, God says, “Well done my faithful servant.” When you give a priority, percentage gift you please God. This is an amazing truth that we can give back to God some of the money he has given us and find his approval.
Pray today for the grace to know that giving pleases God. Ask for the grace to feel God’s pleasure the next time you give to him.
