And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ...
Ephesians 4:11-12
Paul writes to the Ephesians about the many different calls to service in which God’s gift of grace is manifested: some people are called to teach, some to be pastors, others are called to be prophets, and some are called to evangelize. But everyone is called to use their specific gift for building up the body of Christ, for building up the church.
God has given you specific gifts, and unique talents. Maybe you’ve seen it in an area in your life where you are already serving. Maybe you’ve seen your gift across several areas of your life. Serving isn’t a box you check before moving onto the next item. It’s a way of living, and the goal is to serve in every community you are a part of, including your church community.
Today, pray for guidance about how your gifts and talents can serve to build the body of Christ in your church community. Pray for an open mind and a servant’s heart in considering the possible ministries where your time and talents can bring you closer to God.
