You know what sort of people we were among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the word in great affliction with joy from the Holy Spirit, so that you became a model for all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.
1 Thessalonians 1:6-7
Paul describes that he was a model for the Thessalonians on how to live. He says, “You know what sort of people we were among you for your sake.” Paul intentionally lived in a way that pointed toward God and made it easier for the Thessalonians to know the Gospel.
Sharing our faith means living our life in such a way that we do so for the sake of others. It means being on the lookout for an opportunity to invite others to church or to discuss spiritual issues. When people go through a crisis or are simply questioning their purpose in life, they are more open to talk about God or faith — but we won’t spot these opportunities if we are not living our lives for the sake of others.
Pray today for the grace to live your life for people who do not yet know the good news of God’s love. Pray that you can take the focus off yourself and be attentive to opportunities to share your faith.
