And some seed fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold…And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:8, 15
The fourth seed falls on good soil. It yields a hundredfold return. Jesus explains that this is the seed that falls on good soil. People who grow spiritually hear the word of God and “hold it fast.” They persevere to keep a practice. And because they hold fast and have patience, eventually they bear fruit.
Spiritual growth takes time and requires patience. It means we cannot just give up on a spiritual practice because we have not seen its fruit instantly. If we persist, eventually we will see the fruit of a life of impact and meaning.
Pray today for the patience and perseverance required to grow as a follower of Christ.
