So Moses gave heed to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he said. Moses chose able men out of all of Israel and made them heads over all people, rulers of thousands, hundreds, of fifties and tens. And they judged the people at all time; hard cases they brought to Moses, but any small matter they decided for themselves.
Exodus 18:24
Moses hears the counsel of his father-in-law. He might have responded in any number of ways from being prideful to defensive, but instead he listens to his advice. Moses brings other men to support him in his work. As a result, Moses is able to last in leadership.
If we want to last in our responsibilities, we have to be willing to listen to good counsel and invite others to help us. We are not mean to figure out life all by ourselves.
Do you have people like Jethro who can offer you good solid counsel? Do you have people to support you in carrying the burdens of life? If you do, thank God for them and pray for them. If not, ask God to send them into your life.
