Then Moses said to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”
Exodus 4:10-12
Moses’ first excuse to God is that he is a nobody; he doesn’t have the position or status required to make changes. When God answers that argument, Moses tells God that he doesn’t have the ability to serve God. God responds that he is the one who gives abilities and that he will make up for Moses’ weaknesses.
Sometimes we don’t attempt great things for God because we don’t think we are qualified or have the ability. God doesn’t call the qualified — he qualifies the called. He gives us what we need as we begin serving him.
Pray today for the grace to believe God will supply the talent and ability you need to accomplish his will for your life.
