Then Moses’ sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” And the Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So, the girl went and called the child’s mother. And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you wages.” So, the woman took the child and nursed him.
And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son; and she named him Moses for she said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”
Exodus 2:7-10
God works out an incredible miracle in Moses’ life. Not only is he saved by the Pharaoh’s daughter, but his older sister works it out so that Moses’ mother is paid to be his nurse. Moses then grows up in the home of the Pharaoh. He grows up with privilege and education. All these gifts he received without earning them and later helped Moses accomplish God’s will.
Like Moses, God wants to use our upbringing and formation for a great good. While you had no control over the circumstances of your birth and your youth, God has a way he wants to use those experiences. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you appreciate your upbringing and how he can use it in the future.
