For I know well the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for your well-being and not of woe.
Jeremiah 29:11
The prophet Jeremiah lived during a very difficult time in the history of the Jewish people. The Babylonians had invaded and conquered the city of Jerusalem, destroyed the Temple and sent many of its people into exile. For those living in exile from their homeland, all seemed lost and hopeless. But God tells Jeremiah to share a message of hope. The people are to move on and begin building a new life in their new city. God has a plan for their life that is a good plan, not one of woe.
