Accept one another, therefore, as Christ accepted you, for the glory of God.
Romans 15:7
Paul writes to the Romans to accept one another just as Christ had accepted them. This was a hallmark of the early Christian community that allowed them to grow. People came to the community and felt loved and accepted. As a result of the acceptance, they began to change and live for God’s glory.
Acceptance paves the way to influence. As Rick Warren says, “You can only win your friends to Christ, you cannot win your enemies.” If a friend, a family member or co-worker feels like you don’t accept them, then you will never be able to positively influence them.
Who is someone you want to positively influence, but keeps pushing away from you? Pray for the wisdom of how to communicate acceptance.
