Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
1 JN 3:2-3
John tells us that we are God’s children now, but we still not all God wants us to be. We are being more and more conformed to the image of Christ. One day we will be perfect images of Christ, but we are not there yet. Our role is to cooperate with God as he sends opportunities for us to mature into a Christ-like character, to be pure of heart and sincere in our love as Jesus is.
God loves us so much that he accepts us as we are, but he loves us too much to leave us that way. God knows we will not be truly blessed and content and happy until we are perfectly formed into the image of his Son. Love accepts, but love also challenges with the truth.
Thank God today that he accepts you as you are but loves you too much to leave you as you are.
