Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves also the one begotten by him.
1 Jn 5:1


John tells us that everyone who believes that Jesus is their Messiah, their Savior, is begotten by God or “born of God”. Everyone who believes in Jesus is a child of God and can claim God as their Father.


To be born of God means that we grow more and more into his likeness, that we get to know him better and better, that our relationship with him grows deeper and deeper. God’s love is made manifest in Jesus and just like a baby grows to look like its parents, we start to look more and more like God. And just like a child will copy certain traits and habits of its parents, we will copy God’s habits.


Today, thank God for the grace of being born of him and for the opportunity to grow more like him.
