Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself as he is pure. 

 

1 John 3:2-3

 

John tells us that we are God’s children. As children of God we are still growing in our maturity. We are not yet conformed to the image of his Son. We are in the process of becoming more the people God has created us to be. This means we are to continue to purify ourselves by discarding the sin in our lives and what keeps us from becoming like Christ in our character. 

 

Today, talk to God the Father. Confess your need to grow and mature to become like his Son. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what you need to discard today.
