We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he knew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren.
Romans 8:28-29
Paul tells the Romans that God works in every situation for those who love him and have a relationship with him. God works to bring about change and growth in our character. God’s grace is at work to conform us to the image of his Son. God is at work to conform our character into Christ’s character. Jesus is meant to be the first of God’s many sons and daughters who reflect God’s image.
Jesus is the model. We have been created to become like Christ and act as he would act if he were in our shoes. As Rick Warren writes, “God’s ultimate goal for your life is not comfort, but character development.”
Ask God to show you today how he wants you to become more like his Son so that you are more conformed to his image.
