“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord; the Lord will be their trust. They are like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream: It does not fear heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; in the year of drought it shows no distress, but still produces fruit.”


Jeremiah 17:7-8


Jeremiah says that blessed is the person who trusts in the Lord or who looks to the Lord for meaning and purpose in life. We are like a tree planted next to a stream of water. It has constant access to water. It finds nutrients in the soil. It does not have to worry about the external world because internally it is healthy.


We become healthy internally when we find our meaning and purpose in the Lord and not from something or someone else. We do not have to fear difficult times because we find a source of strength in the Lord.
