The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things reflecting on them in her heart.

Luke 2:16-19

After the angels announce the birth of Jesus, the shepherds go to Bethlehem to see the child. They recount their experience and all were amazed, but Mary does something more. She reflects on the events in her heart. She savors these events.

Reflect again on the blessings of the past year. You may want to add to your list people to whom you have grown closer this year or new friendships that have formed. Savor the blessings. Turn them over in your heart as if you are looking at a diamond or other precious jewel from different angles. Thank God for those blessings.
