I n the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.

John 1:1-5

The Gospel of John introduces Jesus not through the Nativity scenes but as the eternal Word of God. Everything that exists came to be because of him. We have life because of Jesus.

Take a few minutes to reflect on the blessings of your life this past year where you were just happy to be alive. What were some of the events or moments that brought joy to your heart? You may want to think about travel or a vacation, times with family, or getting to enjoy a favorite hobby.

Make a list and then thank God for each of those blessings.
