The Lord said to Abram: Go forth from your land, your relatives, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will find blessing in you.
Genesis 12:1-3
God is looking for someone through whom he can bless the world. Abram simply wants a child. God appears to Abram and offers him a proposition: God tells Abram that if he will leave his home and go where God wants him to go, then Abram will be blessed in three ways. God will make of him a great nation. God will bless him. God will make his name great. In each of these blessings, Abram would have understood that God would give him a son. And so, Abram follows God’s lead.
God does not work against our good and healthy desires. He works with them. God wants to partner with us to build his kingdom and give us the desires of our heart. Our role is to listen to where God is leading us and to go where he is blessing.
What is the desire of your heart? Name it before God. Ask him to show you where you need to go or what you need to do for it to come to fruition.
