Jesus humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:8-11
In his letter to the Philippians, Paul praises Jesus for humbling himself and being obedient even if it meant death on a cross. Jesus humbled himself and then God gave him a name that is above every other name. The name of Jesus is sacred and holy and one day everyone will kneel and fall to the ground at his great name.
Jesus’ name is great because he obeyed his heavenly Father and his will for him. Like Jesus, a great name and a great reputation with God comes from obeying God. It is the result of partnering with God to build his kingdom instead of building our own little kingdoms.
Pray for the grace to build God’s kingdom today so that he can lift you up.
