The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built. Then the Lord said: If now, while they are one people and all have the same language, they have started to do this, nothing they presume to do will be out of their reach. Come, let us go down and confuse their language, so that no one will understand the speech of one another.
Genesis 11:5-7
While the people of Babel seek to make a great name for themselves by building a tower to heaven, God still needs to come down to see their little Lego set of a building. God confuses the language of the people so that they can no longer work together for evil and in opposition to God.
We can set about building our kingdoms, but they pale in comparison to God’s kingdom. God invites us to partner with him to build his kingdom. He invites us to leverage the resources we have to serve him and others. He invites us to see everything we have as a way to love him and others rather than a way to make us famous or wealthy or comfortable.
Ask God to give you a desire to build his kingdom. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can build his kingdom in your daily work, family, and recreational life.
