We are nearing the end of our series looking at the first eleven chapters of Genesis, “In the beginning.” We have read about the primeval history of the world. God creates the world good, and he creates human beings very good, but sin and evil are introduced into the world when Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit. Sin and evil multiply and God grieves man’s inhumanity to man. He washes the world clean with a flood and starts over with one righteous man named Noah. However, Noah gets drunk, his son commits incest with his mother, and the cycle of evil starts all over again.
As we come to the final part of the primeval history, we read the story of the Tower of Babel. Babel stands as a great symbol of human pride and arrogance. It stands as a symbol of confusion that permeates the human race and human relationships. This week, we will look at the sin of the people of Babel.
Ask God today for the opposite spirit of the people of Babel. Pray today for a humble, servant heart.
