This is the fourth week of our series, “In the beginning.” We are looking at the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis and what is called the primeval history. Over the last couple of weeks, we have looked at the stories of creation. Genesis goes to great lengths to tell us that God created the world and he created human beings very good.
The beginning chapters of Genesis raise many questions: if God created the world good, then why is it so messed up? If an all-powerful God created the world good, then what went wrong? Did God mess make a mistake? If people are created so good, then why do they do touch terrible things to one another?
The story of the Fall provides answers and insight into those questions. This week we will look at what went wrong and how God promises to meet our failures with grace and mercy.
Pray today that this week you will come to know the depth of God’s grace and mercy as we reflect on the fall of humanity.
