This is the third week of our series “In the beginning.” We are looking at the primeval history told to us in the book of Genesis. This text explains the origins of the universe because God created it and explains so much about our human condition.
Genesis offers two accounts of creation. The first account emphasizes God’s infinite power. The second account of creation emphasizes God’s closeness with humanity. God breathes life into Adam, and he comes into existence. Then he personally forms Eve out of his side. The first account emphasizes God’s omnipotence, while the second emphasizes his intimacy with us. Together they give us a fuller appreciation of our Creator.
Today, thank God that he both has the power to create the whole universe and that he intimately loves and cares for you.
