And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” 

And God said, “Behold I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.” 

Genesis 1:27-28

God creates humanity as the crown of his creation. He then tells humanity to “be fruitful and multiply.” Here we see both the sacredness and purpose of sex. Sex is a sacred act because it comes from God and it his idea. He gives it to us not only to bring a couple together but to be co-creators of human life with him. 

Then God says, “Fill the earth and subdue it.” He gives authority over creation to humanity. We are God’s stewards of creation. God gives creation so that we can meet our needs for food and sustenance. Creation is God’s gift to use it both to meet our needs and appreciate it by caring for it. 

Thank God today for the gift of creation. Pray to be a good steward of the resources he has given you.
