“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. What determines its measurements –surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid the cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth from the womb?”
Job 38:1, 4-8
The book of Job tells the story of a man who loses everything: his family, his possessions and his health. Finally, he gets an opportunity to speak to God. Job challenges God and asks him why he allowed such misery in his life.
God responds to Job with questions rather than answers. He asks Job where he was when laid the foundations of the earth or created the basins for the seas. It is a reminder that what we take for granted came from the infinite mind of God.
Thank God today for the wonder of his creation. Take a moment to look at creation today and be in awe of the Creator.
