You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James 4:3
James says that sometimes we don’t receive because we are asking for things selfishly, and we squander what God gives us on stuff that doesn’t really matter. James gives us some advice of how to ask God for wisdom, resources, success. . . or for whatever we need. James tells us that when we ask God for help, we need to ask with a pure heart. Asking God for help is a crucial part of the Christian life. It will never go away. God knows that we don’t have enough to meet the demands of our life. We don’t have enough without his grace, his power, and his wisdom. But, like any good father, he longs to give it to us. We just need to ask him for it. Ask and you shall receive. Ask for what you need and keep asking until God answers your prayer or leads you in another direction. Know that God can change the desires of your heart.
