But if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching; empty, too, your faith. For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is in vain; you are still in your sins.
1 Corinthians 15:12-13
Paul reminds the Corinthians that he preached to them Christ’s resurrection. So when the Corinthians say it is impossible for a dead body to be resurrected they are denying Christ’s resurrection. If Jesus is not raised from the dead then Christianity is hollow. Our faith is in vain because it means absolutely nothing. Jesus’ death affected nothing as we are still in our sins.
It is Jesus’ death and resurrection that takes away the power of sin in our lives. Since Jesus conquered sin and death at his resurrection, we can conquer it in our lives. Because Jesus rose from the dead we can experience the power of his resurrection right now. We can conquer our sins and failures and do not have to live in them.
Thank God today that you are not defined by your sins. They don’t have power over you. Pray for one person who does not know Christ to come to know him so they can know the power of the resurrection.
