When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. 

 

John 19:30

 

Before Jesus dies on the cross, he says, “It is finished.” He doesn’t mean that he is finished, but that his redemptive work has been completed. He fully surrendered his life in order to pay our debt.
