Did you never read in the Scriptures: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes.”
Matthew 21:42
Jesus tells the religious leaders the parable of the wicked tenants. In the parable, the tenants kill the son of the landowner. The parable foreshadows what the religious leaders will do to God’s Son on Good Friday. Then Jesus quotes Psalm 118 to say that his death will fulfill this prophecy.
Jesus suffered rejection from the religious leaders and his own people and so he can sympathize with the rejection we sometimes feel. And yet, that rejection was part of God’s plan to do something wonderful, to start the movement of the Church that changed the world.
Thank Jesus today that he understands what it means to be rejected. Ask God to use the times you have been rejected to build something wonderful in your life.
