She left and did as Elijah had said. She had enough to eat for a long time—he and she and her household. The jar of flour did not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD spoken through Elijah.
1Kings 17:15

The widow does as Elijah says and her trust and generosity were rewarded. Even though her situation had seemed hopeless, God provided for her. God provided for her but only after she let go of control and gave as he asked her to give.

When you give, you are putting your trust in your heavenly Father to meet your needs. Giving to God through the Church and through charities that help the poor transfers trust in money to trust in God. When you give, God will prove faithful.

Be joyful today and thank God for his faithfulness. Pray with a grateful heart for all that you have.
