The scribe has understood the teaching that the commandments to love are a call to action. Just studying the laws and following the rules are not enough if you do not love wholeheartedly. And Jesus recognizes that the scribe’s true understanding comes from his heart.

Let these two laws be the basis of your life, let them guide your thoughts, choices and actions. If you are able to approach your relationships with unconditional love and practice surrendering these relationships over to God, you will see such fruit in your life. Just the act of trust will create an opening where you will feel God’s grace.
