Jesus summoned them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Mark 10:42-43
Jesus instructs the apostles that when they lead people to Christ they will hold a different kind of authority and power. And because they had no such model for this, Jesus begins to teach them this important lesson.
At some point in our lives, we will all step into positions of power over others. Actually, we are all called to lead people to Jesus. But what does that look like? To be recognized as a Christian leader, our example of leadership comes directly from the Gospels.
In what areas of your life are you leading others? What would it look like to let go of your authority a bit to humble yourself in that role? Pray for wisdom and humility where you are called to lead others.
