At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Jesus tells the rich man to give away his money and follow him. The man knew something was missing from his life and that there had to be more than worldly success. But he rejected Jesus and returned to the very thing that had failed to satisfy his heart. Jesus gave the rich man the exact advice he needed. And yet, he couldn’t give up his money.

God promises us an abundant life. But, like the rich young man, we all hold onto something that if God asked you to let it go, your face would fall.

Examine what it is that God is calling you to give up control of in your life.  Surrender it to God and trust him to fill your life with abundance.
