The rich young man needs more so he says,
“Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth.”
Mark 10:20

In asking the question “How do I inherit eternal life?” the rich man desires more from Jesus than being told “just to follow the law.” He recognizes that there is something deeper that Jesus has come to offer. He is desperate to know the secret to gaining eternal life.

This is the way life is sometimes; we sense that there is something just beyond our reach that could be life-changing, if only we had the key to unlock it. But the journey to a profound experience often requires much effort on our part. As it is in our faith journey, God is inviting us into a relationship, and we need to accept that we are called to be active participants.

God knows you, he knows you are broken, and he blesses you and loves you as you are.  Pray for the courage to let go of everything that gets in the way of your relationship with God.
