Often when we hear the phrase “eternal life” we think only in terms of time. Eternal means forever, never ending. However, there is much more to this idea. True eternal life starts with our relationship with God, filled with peace and trust and grace. But, you may be wondering, like the man in the above passage, “How do I begin?”

We do not have to wait until heaven to start an intimate relationship with God. We can begin our eternal lives right now, while we are still living in this world. By learning to trust in God’s way and letting go of our way, we can start opening up space in our hearts for God.

Today, think about the areas in your life that cause you the most anxiety. What are you always trying to control?  Ask God for help this week to recognize where you most need to surrender to him.
