Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold the new has come.


2 Corinthians 5:17


When we are baptized, we are put into Christ. We are joined to Christ. Paul says that if we have been joined to Christ, we are a new creation. The old has passed away. A new creation has come.


Through baptism, we become new creations. This is our identity. We are made new as we reclaim the identity we have in Christ and remember that we are truly connected to him. This means we can let go of patterns of behavior that have grown old and stale. It means that we can be young in our mind, our spirit, and our souls even as we age. It means that we can be constantly refreshed and renewed as we connect with our Savior.
